I guess a lot of people still don't know the server clearly, so I find out this article:
Server is a word that one frequently comes across in the Computing parlance. And there are different connotations for the same too. The name Server comes from the fact that the server actually servers web pages just like this one. If you want to have you website online then you need a "place" to store it, which of course is connected to the internet network. This "place" is called a server and all websites use some kind of Server.

    • Server may refer to a hardware system or a software system such as a mail server, file server, database server or a print server.
    • Server may also refer to a physical computer which is strongly dedicated to the purpose of running one or many such services in order to serve the various needs of the programs that are running on the same system network as well as other systems.
    • Server may be referred to as a computer program which runs in order to serve the varying needs as well as requests of different clients…and these programs need not necessarily run on a single computer.
The word ‘Server’ is used as a general word to refer to a host which is deployed in executing many programs. Very frequently, a server computer can be either a series of computers or just a computer which can link with other electronic devices or computers together. A server is extremely essential in providing all the essential services that are needed across a network…be it for large organizations or for private users through the internet.

There is a very interesting feature of the server…it has a tremendous ability to store all the files centrally and different users of the same network can use the files whenever they want and together too. Usually, behind every domain there is a web server which is called the host. When you type a specific URL in the browser, you gain access to the web server of that website. There is connection between the two servers that facilitates loading of the graphic files and individual text of the particular home page you wish to visit. These individual files next are created on the computer screen and you get a readable page enabled by the browser.
